Obama…the Master of Internet Marketing

Obama…the Master of Marketing by Julie Taylor

Sometimes, you have to give credit where credit is due.  Obama’s team is full of master marketers.  A few examples of what I’m referring to:

  • Obama announced his choice for Vice President via Text Message:  During that time, his entire home page was replaced with an email sign up form “Be The First To Know”.  People had to sign up to receive information…talk about an innovative way to build a list!
  • Obama embraced viral marketing:  On the page that displays after you sign up with your email address, you’re asked to tell a friend. On top of that  when you text them to be added to the text list you’re asked to “please forward”…..viral marketing is very hot right now (think about how many times you forward information onto friends or colleagues)
  • Obama drove traffic to his website to read and view his tax plan:  Let’s face it, with a budget as large as the one Obama’s team was working with…they could afford to run 30 minute “infomercials” that drive people to the website.
  • Obama used his website as a revenue generator:  Any idea how many donations were made via the website?  It is truly mind boggling.
  • Obama understands the concept of continuity: Have you been to his website lately?  The home page has a strong call to action to “Join the Movement” and “Learn More”….after you sign up to “Join the Movement” - his team sends out emails on a regular basis…building the relationship and driving people to take action.

There is no question that Obama’s campaign changed the way a political race was run (and won).  He and his team of master marketers have introduced politics to a new generation and have inspired baby boomers to embrace technology.

Challenge:  How can you use these ideas in your business?

Perhaps you want to learn how implement one or all of these ideas but are unsure of where to begin.  Contact me for a free Business Coaching Strategy Session…let’s spend 30 minutes outlining your plan.

If you are doing any of these things with success, please let me know…I’d love to highlight your story in one of my newsletters.

To a profitable month,

Taking Stock

Taking Stock by Julie Taylor

I recently celebrated a birthday.  I don’t know about you but, I become very reflective and introspective that one day each year.

  • I make it a point to think about everything I accomplished (and what I didn’t!)
  • I take stock of my professional and personal relationships (who am I spending my time with, who I would like to spend more time with, and of course who I should consider spending less time with)
  • I journal all of my thoughts (the good, the bad, and the ugly!)

Admittedly, most people take the first of each year to go through the process of “taking stock” but, my philosophy is…why set myself up for failure? New Year’s resolutions are just too easy to break and a bit too commercial.

So, you may be wondering what I do with all of this information.  I use this information to set new goals, both personal and professional. My process is outlined below:

  • I review my journal and read between the lines
  • I forgive myself for what I may not have accomplished
  • I list everything that I am grateful for
  • Then…I begin to outline my goals for my new year
  • I share my goals with my coach who helps keep me on track aka accountability

I had a wonderful birthday and am truly grateful for everything and everyone in my life AND I am extremely excited about the possibilities that lie ahead…

Wishing you a profitable month year!

Discover Your Strength Zone

Discover Your Strength Zone by Julie Taylor

What exactly is your “Strength Zone”?

Each of us has one.  It is perhaps best described as those moments in time when we are most productive - without putting forth a lot of effort.  You know what I mean…

  • when you loose track of time
  • when ideas are endless
  • when the stars align and everything seems almost perfect

Your strength zone can be described as those moments when you feel as though you are living out your true purpose - without even consciously thinking about it.

So…how do you identify your strength zone?  Think carefully about how you answer the following:

  • Are you outdoors
  • Are you in a special room in your home?
  • Is there one particular song or CD that you listen to in order to get into your “Strength Zone”?

Over the next week…begin to think about the times when you feel you are at your very best and capture by journaling or simply listing the attributes of your strength zone.

By creating a mindset for success, we are opening ourselves up to new possibilities and ultimately setting ourselves up for future successes aka fulfilling our dreams!

Head Trash is Your Worst Enemy

Head Trash is Your Worst Enemy post by Julie Taylor

It is time to have a serious conversation with that annoying, self defeating voice in your head. You know what I mean, that voice that says things like:

  • “Changing the way I do business because of the economy is too difficult.”
  • “I’ll never have time to do what I really want to do with my life.”
  • “Who am I kidding, I can’t do this.”

Become aware of how much control that voice has over your actions. Make a conscious decision to identify why that voice is so destructive and ultimately, what it is going to take to turn those negative thoughts into positive thoughts.

After all, if you do not believe in yourself – who will? By creating a mindset for success, we are opening ourselves up to new possibilities and ultimately setting ourselves up for future successes aka fulfilling our dreams!

Wishing you a profitable month!

Fish and Your Comfort Zone

Fish and Your Comfort Zone post by Julie Taylor

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit the Atlanta Aquarium.  It was it spectacular!

As I walked from exhibit to exhibit, I enjoyed watching fish of the same species swim in unison and change direction in an instant. It made me smile as I overheard the little ones pointing at the fish and proudly telling their parents that these fish swam in schools.

I began to wonder why a few the fish (of the same species) chose to swim alone?  Those were the fish that held my attention.

We learned at a very young age that fish swim in schools to protect themselves ( aka staying in their comfort zone).  Other fish are “loners” and follow their own vision (aka leadership/entrepreneurship).

Watching these independent fish got me thinking about some of the obstacles each of us faces while getting out of our comfort zones in an effort to grow and change.

Fish swim in schools in order to protect themselves from enemies…so, what do we entrepreneurs do to protect ourselves from the enemies we face?  Economic conditions, lack of training, time management issues, personnel issues….

Do you have a plan to face each of these enemies?

Who do you consider to be part of your school?

If you are struggling while answering these questions - please know that you are not alone!  It is important to note: in order to survive this volatile economic time, you must have a clear direction of where you want to go and a plan that supports that vision.  Now is the time to make some difficult decisions…do you begin to swim with the rest of the fish or do you continue on your entrepreneurial journey and gain strength from a clear vision and plan?

Wishing you a profitable month!
