How Long Will You Sit on Your Next Great Idea?

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

“I have had a great idea for years now, but never had the opportunity to do it!”

Does that statement sound like one you could make?  Then it’s time to stop talking and start doing!

I know, I know… you don’t have the time, the money, the resources, the whatever.  But I’m here to tell you those are all excuses!

If everyone waited until there was enough time, money, resources or other stuff, no one would ever move to a new house, get married, start families, open a business, etc.  Instead, we’d just leisurely sit around in rocking chairs on our porches discussing ad nauseum what we WOULD and SHOULD do… but definitely won’t.

I’m not saying that your “great idea” is going to be a success, of course, because I can’t predict that.  Who knows?  It could flop miserably.  (Hey, the same thing happened to Walt Disney a few times before he got it right…)  Still, if you don’t go for it, how the heck will you find out?

People rarely end their lives by saying, “I wish I hadn’t…”; instead, they typically say, “I wish I had…”  Keep that in mind and make your next bold move!

  • Stuck in a Rut? It’s Time to Dig Yourself Out!

    Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

    “I’m stuck in a rut.”

Have you ever said that?  I’m going to guess that you have… and probably more than once!  It’s not uncommon to feel like you’re spinning your wheels, so to speak.  But that doesn’t mean you have to wait for “fate” to intervene.

It’s time to make your own good fortune and get out of that rut!  Sure, it might be easier said than done, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be done… it just means you’re going to have to work a little.

What are some fast, efficient ways to leap forward?  Try these on for size:

    1. Hire me!  Yes, this is a bold-faced call for you to get in touch with me.  But I really believe in what I do!  I’ll make you evaluate where you’ve been, where you are presently and where you want to go in life… and I’ll help you design the perfect map to get there!
    2. Brainstorm. Get together with like-minded colleagues or friends and brainstorm the heck out of your rut.  Nothing should be off-limits.  Really let the ideas fly (and write them down or record the session.)  Chances are strong that you’ll come up with something terrific and innovative to get you moving forward again.
    3. Educate Yourself.  Nothing helps you get out of your daily “ruts” than a little old-fashioned continuing education.  Lucky for you that there are opportunities everywhere, both online and off!  So sign up for a boot camp, join a class or even start on a path to a new degree.

No one needs to stay in a rut forever!  So say sayonara to yours right now!

  • Ricardo Montalban…Evokes Memories

    Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Ricardo Montalban evokes 3 distinct memories. by Julie Taylor

When I heard that Ricardo Montalban died yesterday, boy did hearing his name bring back memories.

Fantasy Island: I remember watching this show in my pj’s as a kid. In retrospect, was this a good show for a kid to watch? Anyway, the theme each week of be careful what you wish for came through loud and clear.

Rich Corinthian Leather:  It was the best commercial on television at the time…before Ricardo…who the heck even knew what corinthian leather was?  Do we know what is it now?

KHAAN:  Growing up in a family with brothers who loved Star Trek, The Wrath of Kahn was a favorite in our household.  To this day, I will never forget worms coming out of people’s ears…I still cringe and want to cover my eyes thinking about it!

These great memories made me wonder:  if I landed on fantasy island, what fantasy would I want to experience? hmmm…tough one.  any ideas?
